January 9 & 10, 2010 Heading back home.
The drive back from Duncan, South Carolina started with the temperature at -7c as the cold weather continued to hold on to the south. Again I had a number of road kill including a Barn Owl in Virginia, 3 Eastern screech Owl, 1 Great Horned Owl, 3 Red-tailed Hawk and 1 Northern Harrier. There were numerous Turkey Vultures and a few Black Vultures north till the the Virginia/Pennsylvania State Line. Counted around 50+ Red-tailed Hawks along the remaining drive on interstate 81 to Canada. Arrived home after a 3700 km round trip to a flock of 35+ Bohemian Waxwings feeding near Carp!
